David's Daily Devotion for August 4

August 4, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, August 4.

Every once in a while I have the pleasure of playing with a little gospel bluegrass group. Just a pick up band with guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and upright bass. This morning we’ll share some favorites at a local senior center. Seniors are always a sweet and supportive audience, ready to smile and tap a toe. Ready to sing along.

Gospel songs have a way of connecting not only with our ears and voices, but also with our hearts. They resonate not only in our minds, but also in our memories. An old favorite may transport us back to a grandmother’s kitchen, a saint who was always humming hymns as she cooked. A particular song might return us to a funeral service of a beloved relative or friend. This music reaches down deep, and never fails to lift our spirits.

Hopefully some spirits will be lifted at our little concert. I’m sure that mine will be. Hum a few bars of one of your old favorites this morning. It’ll bless your heart.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
