September 16, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, September 16.
My father was born in the summer of 1913, when the field of aviation was in its infancy. The Wright brother’s first flight at Kitty Hawk had occurred less than ten years before, and Lindbergh’s journey across the Atlantic was still fifteen years away. Air travel was just getting started and so was my dad. And then in the summer of 1969... he saw a man walk on the moon.
In between, he lived through two world wars and the Great Depression. There’s an ancient Chinese saying - “May you live in interesting times.” Dr. Travis Lamar Mathis saw the beginning of air flight and then lived to see space flight. He lived in interesting times. And so do we. And we’re challenged each day to deal with the many changes in our world, challenged to remain faithful to God, challenged to “press on toward the goal.”
And we remember His promise found in Isaiah 43:1-3 - “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned.”
We live in interesting times. And God is with us.
