September 22, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, September 22.
Happy autumnal equinox! Welcome to the first day of fall. Equinox is Latin for “equal night”, and on this day the periods of darkness and light are approximately the same. This happens twice a year, once in September and once in March. That one’s called the vernal equinox. Vernal is Latin for spring. Thus endeth your language and science lessons for today.
For most people in America, the first day of autumn signals a refreshing break in the hot summer weather. But not at my house! We really like summer here in Texas. We start it early and it hangs around late. And today the temperature in Tenaha will reach 95 degrees. Refreshing! But hope springs eternal. In a week or two we’ll hopefully begin to see cool mornings and crisp nights, and we’ll celebrate the turning of the seasons.
In the third chapter of the book of Acts we find an excerpt from a sermon by the Apostle Peter. Here’s what he preached - “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be forgiven, and that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord”. The God of Creation, the God of the Seasons, is refreshing the world right now. And this morning He desires to bring a refreshing to your spirit.
