Hector Pineda Gonzalez, 66, of Tenaha, Texas, went peacefully into the presence of the Lord on December 5, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family
Hector was born on July 3, 1959, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Benjamin Pineda and Graciela Gonzalez.
Visitation will be held from 5-8PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Mangum Funeral Home in Center, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Mangum Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Restland Cemetery, Tenaha, Texas.
From a young age, Hector was known as a hardworking, responsible, and intelligent man. At just 12 years old, he discovered a lifelong passion for welding, work that reflected his determination, creativity, and strong work ethic. He later worked in the coal mines repairing coal cars, never shying away from labor and always finding a way to solve any problem placed before him. If Hector didn’t know how to do something, he would simply figure it out.
At the young age of 15, Hector participated in jaripeos en Minas de la Luz, riding with such courage that even after falling with the saddle still on, the bull could not defeat him.
He later earned the nickname “La Rasuradora” from his time playing baseball, where he proudly wore number 5 and played third base, known for never leaving anything unfinished. In 1978, he bravely moved to the United States in pursuit of a better future for his family.
Hector was a man grounded in his beliefs and guided by strong values. He often said, “A good pitcher always checks first base,” a phrase he used to remind others that in life we must stay alert, be prepared, and protect what matters most, our family, our responsibilities, and our values. He met the love of his life in the third grade and always said it was love at first sight. Their love story became the foundation of a beautiful family legacy.
More than any title he ever held, Hector was most proud to be a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was his greatest treasure and his greatest joy. Though known as a strong and sometimes stern man, his grandchildren brought out the softest, sweetest side of him. Becoming a grandparent was truly the pride of his life.
In his free time, Hector enjoyed working, playing billiards, dominoes, baseball, dancing with his grandchildren, and sharing laughter with those he loved. In his younger years, he loved playing baseball, carrying that love for the game throughout his life.
Hector will forever be remembered as a devoted man, a selfless provider, a loyal husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather whose greatest joy was always his family. His legacy of hard work, and unconditional love will continue through the many lives he touched.

Susan Karen Whiddon, 82, of Joaquin, TX passed away peacefully Friday, November 28, 2025, in Tenaha, TX.
Born August 26, 1943, in Dallas, TX at Florence Nightengale Hospital, Susan is the daughter of Orren Cox Whiddon and Cynthia Betty Cockrell Whiddon. She graduated from Joaquin High School and Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN. She was a beloved teacher and coach at Center Junior High School. It was the privilege of her career to lead and inspire the Riderettes to multiple District Championships throughout the years.
In the summer, you would find Susan at Crystal Lake, the Whiddon family water park in Joaquin, teaching water safety, lifeguarding and running the place as her father’s right hand. Generations of east Texans who braved the trolly towers to ride the zipline learned to obey her voice over the intercom “If you’re not pulling up the rope, stand behind the red barrier!”. Susan was known for her sense of humor and never met a stranger. In her later years, trips to Walmart turned into a slow crawl as you couldn’t turn a corner without someone coming over to say, “Hello, Ms. Whiddon!”. She was active in the local trail riding community and ran a small herd of cattle for years that she treated as pets. She was larger than life, a cherished friend to many and made the world a better place.
She is survived by:
Sister’s-in-law:
Harriot McKinney Whiddon of Lufkin
Jean Tyler Whiddon of Hideaway
Nieces and nephews:
Orren Prentice Whiddon of Artemas, PA
Laura Karen Shortell and husband Joe Stutts of Joaquin
Barbara Diane Chandler of Dallas
Cynthia Sharon and husband Charlie Stacey of Farmington, NM

As well as numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orren Cox Whiddon and Cynthia Betty Cockrell Whiddon; brothers, Lt. General Orren Ray Whiddon and Richard Abner Whiddon; nephew Richard Allen Whiddon; and special friend, Faye Tyson. The family would like to thank Tina and Chad Huttto of Christian Love Private Care Home in Tenaha and Heart to Heart Hospice for their excellent care of Susan in her last days.
