George Washington “G.W.” Strong, 81, of Center, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Center.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.  Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Watson & Sons Chapel with Bro. Andy Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow at Strong Cemetery in Huxley.

G.W. was born February 22, 1936, in Huxley, to Virgil Calhoun Strong and Fleta Fleming Strong.  He worked in the poultry industry for over 52 years, being involved in egg production, poultry farming, laying hens/broilers and working catching crews. He also owned a gas station.  G.W. raised hogs and enjoyed working with a variety of horse breeds.  He sold race horses in Germany, Venezuela, Canada, Old Mexico, as well as all over the United States.  He did everything!  Above all, his most enjoyable moments were those spent with his family and friends.  G.W. was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Center.

Parents: Virgil Calhoun Strong and Fleta Fleming Strong
Brothers and Sisters: Irene Mayfield, Mildred Wooten, Elzine Strong, Estelene Hill, Billy Strong, Louise Pickering, and Mozelle Requardt.

Pallbearers will be Terry Allen, Tony Willoughby, Larry Mayfield, Keith Fincher, Mike Pickering, Arthur Hill, Lewis Ross and Danny Oswalt.  Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Stone, Keith Link, Mike Ward, Jim Ward, John Fincher, Waylon Hughes and Jack Forbes.
