Grady A. Lewis

Mr. Grady A. Lewis, 95, of Shelby County, Texas, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Lewis was born October 28, 1926, in San Augustine County's Steep Creek community to parents Ivy B. and Leona (Crocker) Lewis. He was a longtime resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, before returning to the East Texas area. In Lafayette, he retired as sales manager for Patterson Rental Tools and was active with the First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine.

Funeral services are set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel with Bro. Welton Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Chinquapin Cemetery in San Augustine County.

He proudly served his country as a Seaman First Class with the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. Among his assignments, he was stationed at Pearl Harbor.

Grady was an avid golfer and baseball player. He was a utility player for Stephen F. Austin State University's Lumberjack baseball team 1947-1949 and also played in the East Texas League with minor leagues in Tyler and Jacksonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy B. and Leona Lewis; and a brother, Harmon Lewis.

Pallbearers: Frank Gauthier, Landon Gauthier, Monte Taylor, Doug Blacklock, Adolfo Castro, and Kenny Wildbur.
