Rev. Robert Ortigo, 64, of Logan Community passed this life July 10, 2024 peacefully at his Logan, Texas home. Rev. Robert Dale Ortigo was born September 2, 1959 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Funeral service will be 2pm Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan Ketchum and Rev. Glen Ketchum officiating. Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday night at Hawthorn Funeral Home.

Robert was one of five children born to the marriage of Huey P and Georgia Elaine Baker Ortigo. He was raised in Logan and attended Carthage schools graduating with the Bulldog class of 1977. He attended a seminary course of study through the Methodist Church. Robert married his love, Anne Margret Golden June 20, 1981 and together they celebrated 43 years of marriage and raised five children of their own.

His work ethic was a strong one, he began selling greeting cards on a bicycle route when he was 10. He loved farming and had a truck patch selling his vegetables in town. He baled and hauled hay until his first job in town working for Whites Auto. He continued his interest in farming through his career as owner operator of Lonestar Harvesting and worked as a sales representative in John Deere Equipment for 40 years.

Robert loved his Lord and family above all else. His love of family and gospel music came naturally from growing up in a musical family. From  singing with family on his front porch to the church house where he pastored at the Methodist church in both Tenaha, for 1 year, and Joaquin for the past nine years. His community service was strong as a director on the board of Panola Harrison Electric, President of the board of Nicaragua church Planting and the Adams Cemetery Assoc. He was a true leader in his community. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judith Elaine Elliott; brother, Rodney Ortigo; and a grandson, J.J. Ortigo.
