Vernon Dewayne Garrett "Chatty," 61, departed this life on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. He was born May 15, 1963 to the late L.W. and Mary Ruth Garrett.
Funeral service is at 1pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ, 908 Daniels Street, Center, Texas 75935. Visitation is from 10am until 6pm Friday, July 26, 2024 at Community Funeral Home Chapel in Center and Saturday, July 27 from 12 noon until service time at the Church. Interment is at Thompson Cemetery in Shelbyville with Bishop Howard Cloudy officiating and Dr. Jackie Garrett, eulogist.
He was baptized at St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age. He graduated from West Sabine High School in Pineland, Texas. He attended Angelina College. He was a professional truck driver. He was a self-made mechanic who enjoyed working on cars. He was a sociable person and loved by many.
He was preceded in death by: parents, L.W. and Mary Garrett; brother, Larry Hubbard; sister, LaRhonda Gail Redmond; nephew, Kethan Redmond; and great-nephew, A'Maree Starks.
