Betty Ann McPhearson, 87, a devoted wife, mother, and cherished Memaw, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025.

Funeral: 9:00 AM Thursday in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Betty Ann was born January 26, 1938, in Coal City, Alabama to the late Earcy Barber and Lucille Olds Fedrick. She was a woman of boundless love, kindness, and unwavering faith, whose greatest joy was found in her family and the beauty of the world around her.

A true nurturer at heart, Betty Ann found peace and happiness in her garden, where she spent countless hours tending to her flowers, pulling weeds, and making sure every plant had the care it needed to flourish—just as she did with the people in her life. Her yard was always a place of beauty, a reflection of her own gentle and loving spirit.

As a mother, she had unconditional love for each child. Above all, she adored her kids but as the grandkids came along, they were her pride and joy. When the great grandkids came, she had a great love for them also. As a Memaw, she had the remarkable gift of making each grandchild feel like they were her favorite—because to her, they truly were. Her hugs were warm, her laughter was contagious, and her love was endless.

She treasured the friendships she built over the years, always making time to share laughter, lend a helping hand, or simply sit and enjoy the company of those she held dear. Whether through a phone call or a visit on the porch, she made sure her friends knew how much they were loved. She was also a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

He attended Baylor University and graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.A Degree in Geology.

Louis served in the US Army from 1953 until 1955. He grew up during World War II which he believes shaped him. He saw the tragedy of war and always appreciated those who served their country. Louis entered Baylor Law School in the fall of 1955 and graduated with honors and was first in his class in the spring of 1958. He served as the Editor of the Baylor Law Review.

He joined the firm of Naman & Howell in Waco as a partner where he practiced law from 1958 until 1981 as a trial attorney. Louis thoroughly enjoyed practicing law for over 20 years. He loved trying cases and made many lifelong friends with his law partners.

Louis cherished teaching at Baylor Law School where he made more lifelong friends with both faculty and his students. He was always so proud of his students and enjoyed hearing from them and getting updates on the cases they were involved with.

Growing up during the Great Depression made Louis appreciative of everything. Louis valued his family, from his great-grandfather to his own grandchildren. He was forever grateful for his childhood in a small town, surrounded by loving parents, sister, grandparents, uncles, aunts, beloved cousins and close friends. He spent many happy hours with his cousins Bill and John, playing in the woods, fishing, hunting, but mostly laughing. Jackie Jo Wright, 62, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Shelbyville.

Celebration of life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.

Born November 27, 1962, in Shelby County, Jackie is the daughter of Buvis “Earl” Wright and Linda May Wright. A devoted mother, she loved and lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. Jackie frequently prepared meals for her family, often expressing that it was the most she could contribute to them. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in growing beautiful rose bushes. Jackie was certain that her conversations with her roses accelerated their growth.

She was goofy, loved to sing, and enjoyed a good joke. Jackie didn’t mind speaking her mind. She had a selfless personality and her job as a caretaker came natural to her. Jackie accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age and was a faithful member of East Hamilton Missionary Baptist Church most of her life. She and her family sang many specials for revivals and special meetings over the years.
