Simply put, Travis was a hard worker. He was not afraid of getting his hands dirty and made sure to put full effort in to every task he was presented with. Family was also important to Travis, and he took great care of them and their needs. While he did spend lots of time working, he always made a point to take a step back and enjoy life. He loved to fish. Those peaceful moments on the water were opportunities to catch up with God and with family who joined him. Travis really liked to talk, and it was guaranteed he would never meet a stranger. He had a kind soul that drew others to him and people found peace in his presence. Paul Fredrick Erwin, of Texarkana, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. Born September 6, 1923, he was the second of five children born to James Arthur and Ruby Emma Erwin of Tenaha, Texas.

Paul was a 1942 graduate of Tenaha High School and a proud member of the undefeated Tenaha Tigers football bi-district championship team his senior year. After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1943, he moved to Houston where he met his future bride while attending the University of Houston.

Paul married Frances Florrow in May 1945 and eventually moved to Fort Worth where they reared their two sons.  Paul owned and operated a successful automotive repair business.  He and Frances moved to Texarkana, Arkansas, in 1979 where he worked for Orr Chevrolet until his retirement.

Paul was a master gardener who loved sharing gardening tips with friends and family.  He was a voracious reader with a near-photographic memory and could speak intelligently on just about any subject.  He was an avid sports fan who could quote player and team histories and stats like a pro.  His quick wit and mischievous sense of humor kept family and friends laughing - and sometimes groaning - and his stories were legend.

Paul is survived by his sons, Don Erwin (Jacqueline) of Russellville, AR and Artie Erwin (Yvonne) of Texarkana; grandchildren Andrew Erwin (Betsy) of Jersey City, NJ; Micah Erwin (Michelle) of Elgin, TX; Susanna Aich (Rick) of Little Rock, AR; Mason Erwin (Kim) of Chambersburg, PA; Keri Warren (Brad) and Stacy Powell (Kim) of Texarkana; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Jack Erwin (Alma) of Liberty, TX; sister Betty Jean Childress of Joaquin, TX; and a host of other family and friends.
