William Travis Risinger, 87, of Shelbyville, Texas passed away on January 22, 2018 in Shelbyville. He was born on May 7, 1930 in Dunnigan to Grover Cleveland Risinger and Roxy Cox Risinger. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on January 25, 2018 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jason Ballard officiating. A military graveside will follow at East Hamilton Cemetery.
A visitation will be held prior to service time from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on January 25, 2018 at Mangum Funeral Home.
Travis grew up in the East Hamilton community and made his home there throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. He spent four years in the military before settling back into Shelby County. Simply put, Travis was a hard worker. He was not afraid of getting his hands dirty and made sure to put full effort in to every task he was presented with. Family was also important to Travis, and he took great care of them and their needs. While he did spend lots of time working, he always made a point to take a step back and enjoy life. He loved to fish. Those peaceful moments on the water were opportunities to catch up with God and with family who joined him. Travis really liked to talk, and it was guaranteed he would never meet a stranger. He had a kind soul that drew others to him and people found peace in his presence. His laughter, conversation, and love will be missed dearly by those who knew him. Travis was a member of Dunnigan Missionary Baptist Church.
