Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Joseph “Joey” Michael Windham, Sr., 35, of Center, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 in Center. He was born on October 8, 1982 in Carthage, Texas to Kenneth Earl Windham, Sr. and Karen Denise Mikesh. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mangum Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Mangum Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Wilson officiating. Cremation services will follow.
Joey grew up in Center and attended Center ISD. He had a passion for sports and loved to play football and run track. Joey rode the bus to and from school each day. This is where Stacy Williams caught his eye. He was determined to get to know Stacy and would try to ask her out every day. She constantly told him no day after day, but Joey persisted. Finally, Stacy gave in and accepted and the two were both thankful she did. On March 8, 2003 in New Waverly, Texas, Joey and Stacy were married.
While Joey never received his diploma, he didn’t allow that to keep him from succeeding. There was nothing he couldn’t do if he set his mind to it. Often people would underestimate him because of his small stature, but it never took long for the doubt to disappear. Joey was willing to work hard and complete any task placed before him. He was always a positive thinker and knew that no matter what, things would work out for the best.
Joey, or “JoJo” as many would call him, was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was also a life-long supporter of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. His loyalty never drifted for his teams. He also was a member of Center First United Pentecostal Church and was involved with the Children’s Ministry. While Joey did enjoy many activities, his most treasured times were with family. He loved to fire up the barbecue pit and would invite everyone over. Joey had such fun socializing and being around people. Family time was his favorite and the laughter and love they all shared together will be some of the fondest memories for years to come. Some of the most precious moments Joey spent were with his granddaughter. The love he had for his little angel is indescribable.

Bobbie Jo Turk went to be the Lord December 4, 2017, at the age of 72.

Bobbie Jo Turk went to be the Lord December 4, 2017, at the age of 72. Born June 24, 1945 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Rev. Robert E. Harrison and Trula Faye Ward Harrison, she grew up in several rural towns in southern Oklahoma and western Texas.
Bobbie graduated from McMurry College, where she met the love of her life when a boy from Jal, New Mexico offered to give her a ride home to Kermit, Texas. After marriage, she spent the majority of her adult life in Benbrook, Texas. She retired from the Fort Worth ISD after 30 years in the classroom as a bilingual ESL teacher in the primary grades. She loved to teach and cherished the memories of her students.
For many years Bobbie and her husband split their time between homes in Texas and New Mexico. She was a student of southwest culture and loved to study the heritage and history of the region.
Bobbie moved to Center, Texas in 2006 to embrace her most cherished life role, that of “Grammy”. She loved to spend time with her family and especially enjoyed being close to her grandchildren. We know that she will continue to watch with pride at their accomplishments.
Bobbie knew her Lord and Savior well and while her illness was sudden and short, insisted that there be no tears.
While we all prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior, she has held a nail-scarred hand. She is a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, serving for nearly 30 years at Benbrook UMC and finally at First UMC of Center.

He was a member of Sam Houston Masonic Lodge #32 in Shelbyville, Chapter and Council in Deridder, Louisiana, Shriner’s – Tyler Temple, Scotish Rite-Orient of Dallas and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 903 in Joaquin. Georgia May Fowler, 78, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away on December 2, 2017 in Garrison, Texas. Born April 25, 1939, Georgia is the daughter of the late James and Bertha (Kopecky) Long.

Georgia grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. She met the love of her life, Michael Gene Fowler, and the two were married on February 13, 1958. They raised two beautiful children, Kevin Patrick Fowler and Michelle Lynn Fowler in Humble, Texas. After retirement they moved to Anderson, Texas where she and Michael lived on a farm and raised goats. After the passing of her husband, Michael, in 2002 she moved to Nacogdoches, Texas. She loved to read and to go shopping, whether it be locally or from QVC. Grandma Georgia loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each of them. She also enjoyed her dogs and caring for them.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Fowler Hooper and husband John of Timpson, Texas; grandchildren, Jacey Hooper of Dallas, Texas, Jessica Hooper of Austin, Texas, Jordan Kelley and husband Justin of Dallas, Texas, Caleb Fowler of Houston, Texas, Garrett Fowler of Humble, Texas; and a host of family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Michael Gene Fowler; and son, Kevin Patrick Fowler.

Thomas Edward Tidwell, 75, of Henderson, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, in Shreveport, Louisiana, after battling a long illness.

Thomas was born November 2, 1942, in Timpson, to J.E. Tidwell and Lorene Mims Tidwell. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army/Texas National Guard. Over the years, Thomas enjoyed fishing with his daughter, drag races, watching football games and enjoying a beer around a good campfire. Thomas spent his last days in the care of his loving family celebrating a wonderful 75 years of life.

Danny Lee (Boone) Weaver, 61, of Timpson passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 16, 1955 to David Weaver and Violet Ford. Mr. Weaver was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Center.
Mr. Weaver requested his body be donated to science research. A memorial service was held Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Pinkston Lake. This was his favorite place to think and relax. Another memorial service will be held for the family in 8-12 months once his body is returned.

James was a simple man who had a passion for everything in his life. He was devoted to his career in food service which he began after receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. He was a true SFA Lumberjack and supported his SFA family no matter the season. When James was not working, he very much enjoyed fishing. Family meant the world to him and he treasured every second he could spend with his brothers, sister, nieces and nephews. Karaoke and collecting the newest gadgets were two of his favorite pastimes. James’ genuine and kind heart will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Mrs. Verlene Stewart, 81, of San Augustine, Texas died November 29, 2017, in San Augustine, Texas.
Stewart was born December 14, 1935, in San Augustine County, Texas.
Services will be held Friday, December 1, 2017, at 2pm at First Baptist Church, San Augustine.

Ina Hennigan Stone, 75, of Logansport, Louisiana, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, in Nacogdoches.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Watson & Sons Chapel. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
Mrs. Stone was born September 7, 1942, in Joaquin, to Opal Yates Hennigan and Eva Belle Chandler Hennigan. Her passion in life was her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She loved sewing and being by her husband’s side through their numerous endeavors. She was a faithful member of Center Missionary Baptist Church and was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Bobby Doyce “Big” Watson, 80, of Center, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017, in Tyler.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Sardis Cemetery in Shelby County.
Mr. Watson was born July 8, 1937, in Shelby County, to Charley Doyle Watson and Annie Ruth Windham Watson. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of Sam Samford Masonic Lodge #149. He worked as a carpenter. Mr. Watson was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family and his Sardis Missionary Baptist Church family.

Bonnye Jean Moore Sholmire age 71 died of complications from breast cancer on November 23, 2017 in Nacogdoches, TX. She was born in Parkersburg December 7, 1945 to Lillian Conger Moore of Parkersburg and Eugene Otis Moore of Sherman Texas, and raised by her great aunt and uncle, Cora & Ed Conger on their farm off Windy Ridge in Wirt County. She was a 1964 graduate of Gilmore High School, Sandyville, WV and was a 1960 Golden Horseshoe Winner from Jackson County. After graduation, she worked for Parkersburg National Bank for 7 years before accepting a job at Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati where she could attend as many Cincinnati Reds games as she could afford! She was an 8-year member of the U.S. Army Reserves and joined the 2075th. USAR School in Cincinnati. After her marriage to Bob Sholmire, she moved to Channelview, TX to join him and was employed with Channelview Bank for 10 years before moving to Charlotte, NC. While in Charlotte, she worked for Bank of America as a loan underwriter in the Private Banking division. She and Bob became die-hard NASCAR fans, especially of the Earnhardts, during their years in Charlotte.
Besides watching NASCAR races, she enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the birds and drinking coffee with Bob. She also enjoyed working cryptogram puzzles and watching NCIS, Barnwood Builders and old movies.
Survivors include her husband and love of her life, Bob Sholmire, sisters in law Janice (Bert) Furlow of Shelbyville, TX and Carol (Jim) Gilliland of Nacogdoches, TX, brother Gerry Moore of Sistersville, WV, niece Jodi Thompson of Morgantown, WV and her children, Jack and Lara.
Services are under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf of Nacogdoches; visitation from 2 – 3 pm on 11/24/2017 with funeral service to follow. Brother Michael McArthur of Lydia Baptist Church will conduct the service.

Don Mac Shrum, 81, of Joaquin passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Joaquin. He was born on July 20, 1936, in Rains County, Texas, the son of Loyd Eugene (Gene) and Rozella (Buchanan) Shrum. Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at Blair Cemetery with Bro. Gordon Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Taylor Funeral Home.
Don was born and raised in Rains County, Texas. He graduated from Brazosport High School and soon after, joined the U.S. Army, where he honorably served his country. Don met a very special lady, Joyce Mullins, and the two soon realized the love they had for each other. In May of 1961, she graduated from high school, and on June 9, 1961, the two were joined in marriage. This began their love story which lasted until her passing. Don held many jobs during his lifetime, but always made sure he provided for the family that he and Joyce had. He loved his children and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He spent many hours loving on them and watching them grow up. He also enjoyed fishing and reading, but his favorite memories were when he and his lovely wife were travelling. Their most memorable trip, and favorite places to visit was Branson, Missouri and the state of Tennessee. Don loved life and his family. His legacy of love and hard work will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his daughters, Sherry Hass and husband, Rex of Joaquin, Texas, Vickie Williams and husband, Roger of Lufkin, Texas; brothers, Loyd Shrum and wife Sybil of Mena, Arkansas and Perry Shrum and wife, Leslie of Angleton, Texas; sisters, Linda Piwonka of Clute, Texas, Raynell Presley of Dallas, Texas, and Lavern Chandler and husband, James of Colfax, Louisiana; 6 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Mullins Shrum and his parents, Loyd Eugene Shrum and Rozella Buchanan Shrum.
