October 6, 2015 - Photos by Shelby County Today - The Joaquin Rams never let the Timpson Bears into last Friday's JHS Homecoming game and ultimately came away with a convincing 40-14 win. Joaquin used 488 yards of offense, and used a 5-yard score by Kase Yates and a 51-yarder by Nate Belrose to take a 22-0 lead by the conclusion of the first period of play.

Joaquin went up 34-0 with a 9-yard Yates touchdown with 3:39 remaining in the third quarter. Chris Piro got THS on the board with 50-yard reception from Chandler Burgay that went the distance with 2:46 left in the third stanza. The 2-point conversion attempt was intercepted and returned the distance by Ram Cole Powdrill but a block in the back penalty negated the would-be 2 points for JHS.

Peyton Martinez added a 52-yard score for Joaquin with less than two minutes left in the third frame which gave JHS a 40-6 lead.

The final score of the game came on a 3-yard touchdown by Hayden Smith with 8:02 left in the game. Burgay hit Hunter Smith for a 2-point conversion.

September 29, 2015 -  The Shelby County Bass Anglers competed in the Texas Association of Bass Clubs State Championship last weekend on Lake Falcon Reservoir out of Zapata on the Texas/Mexico border. Each club team consisted of the top eight anglers from their organizations fishing 2 men per boat. The TABC championship consisted of twenty six 4 boat teams from all across the state fishing for two days total combined team weights, but only calculating the top three weights daily for each club.

Day two rolled in with different conditions after a weak cold front tried to pass through and wind directions changed. The bite was slowed down considerably, but the SCBA found a way to claim their first TABC Championship.
