May 2, 2025 - Tonight at 7pm, the Center Roughriders travel to Port Neches Grove for Game 2 against the Little Cypress-Mauriceville (LCM) Bears for the UIL Baseball Bi-District Championship. The Roughrider Broadcast Team will make the trip to provide the Livestream. The Pregame Show should begin at 6:45pm.

Last night, the Roughriders played host to the Bears in Game 1, losing 3-1. Because of wet conditions, Center's home game was moved to a 4:30 start at Panola's Reeves Field.

The game is available for live stream at the NFHS Network, the home for most of the nationwide high school playoffs for all sports. The primary broadcast partner of the UIL, the network requires a subscription--$11.99 for a month or $6.50 monthly for an annual--and will give you access to many high school baseball and softball playoffs throughout the country.

May 2, 2025 - Due to the weather in the forecast, the Shelbyville Varsity Softball team will play game two at Rusk High School at 7:30pm 6:30pm, today, May 2

The Center Roughriders varsity baseball team fell to the Little Cypress Mauriceville Bears, by a 3-1 run score during a Game 1 of a best-of-three game series. The playoff is the first-round of the Texas UIL State Baseball Tournament.

Little Cypress Mauriceville (LCM) gained a 2-0 run lead in the top of the fourth inning when Marco Bandiero singled up the middle and was later driven in to score on a Jacob Scheiderer base hit. Scheiderer scored before the inning ended.

Center got on the board in the bottom of the sixth inning when Easton Wulf lead off the inning with an infield hit and scored on a TJ Belin double to leftfield for Center’s only score of the game.

Clay Raney led off the top of the final inning by drawing a walk and he later scored the final run when Bears teammate Parker Seago doubled to right field to give LCM the final lead at 3-1 runs.

Zy Barnes went the full seven innings pitching for Center and he gave up 7 hits, struck out one and walked two.

Landon Richards pitched the full game for the Bears and he struck out 9, walked 3, and gave up 5 hits.

Center now stands at 13-16 win-loss for the season. Mauriceville is at 25-5 this season. Game 2 of this series saw the Roughriders fall to the Bears by a 10-0 run score ending Center's season end with a 13-17 win-loss mark.

May 1, 2025 - Due to field conditions at Roughrider Field, the baseball playoff game vs Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears will be played at Panola College in Carthage at 4:30pm today, May 1st. The Jim Reeves Memorial Baseball Field is located at 1892 Ballpark Drive, Carthage, Texas 75633.

Tickets are cash only at the gate. They do not allow chairs at tonight's game, so everyone will need to sit in the grandstands.

April 28, 2025 - The Center Roughrider Tennis team finished 2nd in team points in the UIL District 17 tournament at Bullard High School on April 24-25. The team had 9 of the 16 players to medal and advanced three players to the Regional tournament in Bryan on May 7-8.

UIL District Tennis Medalists:

  • Boys singles: 3rd place - Chris Acosta (Region alternate)
  • Girls singles: 2nd place - Hollie Herndon (Region qualifier)
  • Girls singles: 4th place - Emerson Wulf
  • Mixed Doubles: 4th place - Laura Scull / Logan Galindo
  • Boys Doubles: 2nd place - Bryce Gaddy / Ryder Moody (Region qualifiers)
  • Girls Doubles: 3rd place - Autumn Bennett / Hope Nehring

Girls team members are: Kenley Ramos, Emerson Wulf, Autumn Bennett, Hope Nehring, Angie Rojas, Alicia Landin and Senior Hollie Herndon, Senior Laura Scull.

Boys team members are: Timothy Pletcher, Zac Payne, Phoenix Cougler, Ryder Moody, Bryce Gaddy, Anthony Harrold, Chris Acosta and Senior Logan Galindo.

The team is led by Assistant Coach Lori Cooper and Head Coach Leon Dykes.

Center will host the Junior Varsity District meet on Monday, August 28.

April 28, 2025 - Tonight, in a special edition-Monday Night Baseball live from Hudson Texas, the Roughrider Broadcast Team will provide a livestream of the District Play-In Game: the winner moves to the playoffs; the losing team's season will end.

The Center Roughriders will face The Rusk Eagles tonight at 7pm. The Pregame Show will begin ten minutes before first pitch.

If the Roughriders win tonight, they will move to Round I of the UIL Playoffs this weekend.

April 28, 2025 - The Shelbyville Lady Dragon's Softball team enters the second round of playoffs with games starting May 1 and the Dragon's Baseball playoff games start with the first round May 2. Game schedules are as follows:

Lady Dragons Softball will play round 2 of the playoffs vs Leon at Jacksonville.

  • Game 1 is Thursday, May 1st at 6:30pm. Dragons are the home team and in the 3rd base dugout.
  • Game 2 is Friday, May 2nd at 6:30pm. Dragons are the visitors and in the 1st base dugout.
  • Game 3, if needed, will be Saturday, May 3rd at 12 noon.

Dragon Baseball playoffs begin later this week vs Groveton at Jasper.

  • Game 1 is Friday, May 2nd at 7pm. Dragons are the home team and in the 3rd base dugout.
  • Game 2 is Saturday, May 3rd at 12 noon. Dragons are the visitors and in the 1st base dugout.
  • Game 3, if needed, will start 30 minutes after game 2.

All playoff games passes will be honored: Coaches passes, Senior Citizen passes, Any military pass, District 23 and 24 passes, District pass list. Gate prices will be $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Dragon Baseball will have a playoff warm-up game tonight. Shelbyville will play Mineola at Driller Park in Kilgore starting at 7pm. The Dragons are the home team and will be on the 1st base side. The Shelbyville Lady Dragons began their best-of-three game Bi-District softball series with the Groveton Indians on Thursday afternoon. The game was eventually suspended due to repeated lighting strike delays, Groveton had completed their first at bat and held a 1-0 run lead. When the game resumed on Friday, a Cadee Harley single scored Lanie Bass to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Dragons were not through as later, a bases loaded walk by Nicole Harvey scored Cori Lawson and gave Shelbyville their first lead of the game at 2-1.

Groveton scored to tie the game at 2-2 runs in the top of the sixth frame. Cori Lawson scored to regain the lead at 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth frame and later in the inning Laney Bass singled to score Carsey Lovell to extend the SHS lead to 4-2. A Lizzie Jernigan single scored Bass later to extend the Lady Dragons advantage to 5-2 going into the seventh inning.

Shelbyville’s defense did the rest and they won by the 5-2 run score.

The Lady Dragons fell to the Lady Indians by a 6-1 score in Game 2 . But bounced back to win Game 3 and the series with a 6-1 run win. Shelbyville is the second-place representative of District 23 2A and they have a 19-10 season record.They advance to face Jewett in the area round of the Texas UIL Class 2A Softball Playoffs next week. Groveton was the #1 seed of District 24 2A and their season ends with a 23-8 record.

April 25, 2025 - Shelbyville Varsity Softball will play at 7:30pm tonight, April 25 and then Saturday morning at 10 am and 12pm if needed. 

April 23, 2025 - On April 12th, the young martial artists at Self Defense America showcased their dedication and skill during their belt test, a significant milestone in their journey. Each person demonstrated remarkable focus, discipline, and technique, reflecting months of hard work and commitment to their training. We are incredibly proud of their perseverance and growth, not only as martial artists but as individuals building confidence and character. The smiles on their faces as they earned their new belts were a testament to their effort and their supportive families.
