At 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, Angelina Beautiful/Clean will host its quarterly Adopt-a-Highway clean up. Volunteers will meet at 1615 S. Chestnut Street in Lufkin. This is an excellent chance for service organizations to get volunteer hours and help beautify our communities.
August 21, 2026 - Nothing ruins the beautiful East Texas scenery like litter. While our crews and contractors work to keep roads clean, we can’t do it alone. Please consider participating in TxDOT’s Adopt-a-Highway Program. The district currently has 134 two-mile road segments available for adoption.

With students returning to campuses across the district in the coming days, be sure to stay alert for pedestrians and school zones. Check the Lufkin District's social media for school-zone awareness messages.
August 4, 2026 - TxDOT maintenance crews are milling and inlaying three locations along US 96 in the next two days. Weather permitting, they should be finished tomorrow, August 5.
Today, crews are working on the right-hand (outside) north and southbound lanes of US 96, approximately between the Teneha Street/96 intersection to just north of Cass-Caid Drive. The southbound lane should reopen before the northbound closure takes place. They will also mill-and-inlay along a portion of the outside, southbound lane at the Rough Rider Drive and 96 intersection.
