December 1, 2023 - Emergency Pricing Program (EPP) to Set New Limit on Wholesale Electricity Prices During Emergencies
The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) has voted to immediately implement a new Emergency Pricing Program (EPP) for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) power region. The EPP was required by Senate Bill 3 of the 87th Texas Legislature and will limit consumer exposure to high wholesale electricity prices during power emergencies.
TEF to Help Fund Construction and Modernization of Reliable Energy Resources
November 8, 2023 – The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) will implement the Texas Energy Fund (TEF), as directed by the Texas Legislature through Senate Bill 2627 and approved by Texas voters on November 7. The TEF will provide grants and loans to finance the construction, maintenance, modernization, and operation of electric facilities in Texas.

The Public Utility Commission (PUCT) is echoing a call from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) asking Texans to conserve electricity use, if safe to do so, today from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. CT.
