August 23, 2023 - Shelby County was recently impacted by a large wildfire in the Spann’s Chapel area on Sunday, August 20, 2023, which resulted in extensive property damage and allegedly started due to a trash fire.
Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison submitted a photo from Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) when they were at the scene of the fire, which demonstrates what can happen when someone chooses to burn trash in a trash barrel.
Residents are urged to continue to abide by the burn ban and not burn until it has been lifted.
