City of Center Extends Declaration of Local State of Disaster to 30 Days

March 31, 2020 - During Monday's City of Center Council meeting, the City Council took action on continuation and renewal of Declaration of Local State of Disaster due to Public Health Emergency by extending the March 27th signed Local State of Disaster to be effective for 30 days.

The declaration activates the city's emergency management plan and authorizes the furnishing of aid and assistance under the declaration; and it alters access to public facilities.

The declaration suspends local ordinances and laws requiring compliance with deadlines for administrative enforcement actions and before the Center Municipal Court. It authorizes the Municipal Judge to suspend and defer current proceedings pending.

It also suspends the issuance of permits for garage sales, itinerant vendors, door-to-door, and application for permitting of oil/gas wells.

The declaration includes penalty that if it is knowingly or intentionally violated, it is an offense punishable by a fine up to $1,000 or confinement in jail for a term that does not exceed 180 days.

Regarding the Order Continuing Declaration of State of Local Disaster for the City of Center, the declaration issued by the Major on March 27, 2020 for the City of Center, Texas resulting from public health emergency is hereby continued.
