September 11, 2017 - From CISD 8th grade teachers, Stephnie Helton and Tina Bittick:
We are very excited to share with you that our 8th grade students will be attending the Chamber Theater Encore production in Marshall, TX on Friday, October 20, 2017. We will leave CMS at 8:30 and return at about 1:30.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the students to see a live production of stories we will read in class. In a 90-minute show, our students will see adaptations of 5 classics (“The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Monkey’s Paw,” “The Necklace,” “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” and “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County.”) The materials provided by the company are “a springboard for students to compare and contrast important literary and dramatic elements, while also encouraging active listening and effective viewing skills. Post-performance activities bring the experience back to the classroom to help solidify the learning process.” (ChamberTheatre.com)
Permission slips will be sent home Monday, Sept. 11. Please send $19 for the ticket and the signed permission slip to your ELAR teacher (Mrs. Bittick/Mrs. Helton) by September 19. If you are unable to meet this deadline, please contact us.
