Covid-19 Update: Calculation Corrections of Recoveries, 36 New Cases Increases Active Cases to 237 (Updated)

Update: According to the Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard, the only change since Saturday's report was the addition of 7 new recoveries and a new active case count of 230.

January 23, 2021 - The Texas COVID-19 Dashboard reported a decrease of 74 in recoveries which led to a large jump in active cases from 127 reported on January 21st up to 237 on Saturday, January 23rd. A note on the dashboard stated, "There were major decreases in recovery counts across PHR 4/5N due to calculation corrections." Shelby County is located in Public Health Region (PHR) 4/5N.

Looking back one week to January 16th, the estimated recoveries were at 1,036 and during the past week 91 new recoveries had been reported. With the calculation correction of 74 removed, the total number during the past week decreased to 17 new estimated recoveries.

Adding to the increase of active cases over the two day period were 36 new active cases. Of the new cases, 20 were confirmed cases and 16 were probable cases.
