David’s Daily Devotion for Apr. 5

April 5, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, April 5.

This has been Spring Break week here in Center, Texas. Many of our folks are traveling - I'm traveling myself today. Here's a Bible story about some people who left on a two-week trip . . . and didn't get home for 40 years.

The distance between Egypt and Israel is about 300 miles. The average walking speed of a human being is 2.5 miles per hour. When the Israelites and Moses left their bondage in Egypt, if they had walked just eight hours a day, they would have reached their new home in about two weeks. But they didn't make very good time on that trip, arriving 39 years and 50 weeks late!

God's timetable, His calendar, isn't always the same as ours. In fact, it's almost always different. The Israelites, just like us, didn't understand why that had to be true. As they wandered in the wilderness, they even began to long for the days when they were slaves in Egypt. Imagine that! But God had a plan, a plan to test them, to prepare them. And He never forgot His promise.  After all, Canaan was called the Promised Land.

Meet you back here on Monday,

Bro. David
