David’s Daily Devotion for Aug. 11

August 11, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Friday, August 11.

Every year, on the Sunday before school starts, my church takes a moment to honor teachers, to thank educators, to pray for all those in our community who shape and mold and bless our children. This Sunday is that moment, and any local teacher is warmly invited to join us at our 10:15 service.

My family is full of teachers. Both of my sisters taught school. Many of my nieces and nephews are educators, and my oldest daughter is a teacher. For a six-year span during the '90's, I was a bi-vocational minister. In addition to serving a church, I taught high school choir. I had never worked so hard in my life, and I haven't worked that hard since. I have great respect for teachers.

Jesus is personally addressed 90 times in the New Testament. 60 of those times He is called . . . Teacher. And what a master teacher He was, always patient, always inspiring, always making a difference, always a blessing.

God's blessings on all our teachers this school year. May He bless you with safety and with patience, as you strive to make a difference in young lives.

Meet you back here on Monday,

Bro. David
