David’s Daily Devotion for Aug. 4

August 4, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, August 4.

This afternoon, our church will feed the freshmen at Fish Camp! Every year, the week before classes start, the new ninth-graders are invited to an orientation called Fish Camp, and we get the opportunity to fill them up with pizza, cold drinks, and encouragement. When you’re “the new kid on the block” you can use all the encouragement you can get.

Do you remember some of your first days? First day in high school. First day in kindergarten. First day in college or at a new job. Those are nervous moments in our memory, and a word of helpful instruction, a smiling face, a warm welcome, can make all the difference.

We all have another "first day" coming - our first day in heaven. We don't exactly know what heaven will be like, but we know that we will know Him the way He knows us now. Wow! What a day that will be! That reminds me of a song (cue the music!).

There is coming a day
When no heart aches shall come
No more clouds in the sky
No more tears to dim the eye
All is peace forever more
On that happy golden shore
What a day, glorious day that will be

What a day that will be
When my Jesus I shall see
And I look upon His face
The One who saved me by His grace
When He takes me by the hand
And leads me through the Promised Land
What a day, glorious day that will be!

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
