David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 15

February 15, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, February 15.

Isaac Newton, in the 17th century, was a mathematician, physicist, inventor, astronomer, theologian, author, and scientist. He created the field of calculus, invented the reflecting telescope, developed the laws of motion and gravity. These “laws” were the dominant scientific discoveries for three centuries, until Einstein’s theory of relativity in 1905. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest geniuses who has ever lived.

And yet, on February 15, 1675, Newton wrote a letter to fellow scientist Robert Hooker, a letter that included his famous quote - “If I have seen further, it is because I stand on the shoulders of giants.” Even Isaac Newton, with his colossal intellect and staggering abilities, realized that there are no Lone Rangers, no self-made men. Each of us owes a debt to someone, or to many someones, who taught us, trained us, shaped us, encouraged us.

Take a moment to think about the “giants” whose shoulders you stand upon.

In Genesis 45, Joseph, a mighty man of faith, says this - “God sent me on ahead to pave the way.” Who are you paving the way for? Who are you encouraging? Who is standing on your shoulders?

Something to think about...

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
