David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 22

February 22, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, February 22.

We are now in the season of Lent, the six weeks that lead to Easter Sunday. It's a period often connected with the practice of fasting, a practice that is encouraged many, many times in the Word of God. We usually connect fasting with food, but it can actually involve any part of our lives. Here are some thoughts, attributed to Pope Francis, that are worthy of your consideration today.

Fast from anger and be grateful
Fast from pessimism and be filled with hope
Fast from worries and trust God
Fast from bitterness and be filled with joy
Fast from grudges and be reconciled
Fast from sadness and be thankful
Fast from selfishness and be compassionate
Fast from words and be silent so you can listen

Perhaps you can think of other things in your life that are negative and hurtful. Replace them with something positive and let God do a work in your heart as we approach Resurrection Sunday.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
