David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 23

February 23, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, February 23.

Quick! What’s the last word in the Bible? Did you guess “amen”? That’s right! In Revelation 22:21 the apostle John writes, “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen.” How appropriate that the Bible ends with that word, since, in the Bible, it is most often used at the end of prayers and proclamations of praise. It's the same way you and I use it today. "So be it!" "It is true!"

But one person in the Bible uses this word not at the end of statements, but at the beginning. That person is Jesus. The King James Version translates it as “verily, verily”, but it is that same Hebrew word “amen”. And when Jesus uses it He is claiming not only truth, but authority and ownership and power.

And then, in Revelation 3:14, the word is found not at the end, not at the beginning, but in the middle of a sentence - "These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation." And so, the Lord, Himself, has become the Amen.

Hope you enjoyed today's devotion. Can I get an amen!!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
