David’s Daily Devotion for January 13

January 13, 2023 - Happy Friday the 13th to you!  There are lots of theories about why this day is thought to be so unlucky.  "13" because that's how many sat down to The Last Supper.  And Friday, because that was the day of Jesus' crucifixion.  The background history is pretty fuzzy.  Suffice it to say, today is one in a long, long list of things that many human beings are afraid of.  So, here are some hopeful verses about overcoming fear -

*Isaiah 41:10 - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.

*2 Timothy 1:7 - God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and self control.

*I John 4:18 - There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out fear.

*Psalm 27:1 - The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear?

*Joshua 1:9 - Do not fear and do not be discouraged, for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go.

*Deuteronomy 3:22 - Do not fear anything, for it is the Lord who fights for you.

Great thoughts for any day, no matter what the date!

Meet you back here on Monday,

Bro. David
