David’s Daily Devotion for July 12

July 12, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, July 12.

I first met Alice West in 2017, when I arrived in Center, Texas as Worship Minister at First Baptist Church. She was our organist and she welcomed me to town with a warm smile and a kind word. It made me feel special. But then I noticed that that was the way Alice greeted everyone, and it was the way she greeted me hundreds of times over the last seven years.

I last saw Alice about a month ago, when our church choir sang around her bedside. Before we left, each choir member stopped to tell her that they loved her. I leaned down to do the same. She could no longer speak . . . but there was still that warm smile.

Miss Alice went to be with the Lord earlier this week and her memorial service will be this Sunday at 2pm at Mangum Funeral Home. Her many friends will gather to remember the many ways that she was a blessing. We'll thank God for the chance we had to know her. We'll celebrate a life well lived.

Meet you back here on Monday,

Bro. David
