David’s Daily Devotion for June 25

June 25, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, June 25.

June is almost over, so here's a quick thought for this month of Father's Day.  Every father, at one point (or at many, many points) hears the following words - "Watch me, Daddy!" This exclamation is followed by a somersault or cartwheels, or by some other amazing feat. I can remember this scene from thirty years ago, but now that I'm a grandfather, the phrase has been slightly altered to "Watch me, Papa!" Same scenario played out generation after generation. Children need to be acknowledged, need to be valued. They need to be "seen". And they're not shy about asking for that attention!

As we grow older, we pretend that we no longer have that need. And, if we did, we would never say to anybody - "Watch me!" Most of us get a job at one point, and that job rewards us with money to pay our bills, money to meet our needs. But the money doesn't really meet that other need, the need to be acknowledged, to be valued.  The need to be seen.

The Bible recognizes all of this and speaks about it in numerous scriptures. Here's a few -

Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.    Proverbs 12:25

Consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Hebrews 10:24

Encourage one another and build each other up. I Thessalonians 5:11

Take a moment today and encourage someone. It won't cost you a penny, but it will mean the world to them. Let them know that they are appreciated.  Let them know that they are valued.  Let them know that they are . . . seen.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
