David’s Daily Devotion for March 10

March 10, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, March 10.

Connection is important to us. Every once in a while, at our home in the country north of Center, Texas, we lose our wi-fi connection, and for as long as it's out, our lives are a little frustrating. Over the last two years, during the pandemic, we've all had to deal with losing connections with our friends, our families, our churches. That experience was beyond frustrating. But, there is one connection that is more essential, more irreplaceable, more powerful, than any other - our connection to Christ. Our Savior is our supreme source for everything that makes life worth living.

One way that we can connect with Him is through His humbleness, His humility. In the gospel of John, Chapter 13, we find Jesus in the Upper Room on the night before the Cross. And we see Him do a very unusual thing - He washes the feet of His disciples. Foot washing was a frequent task in the dusty First Century world. But it was always done by the lowliest servant. Jesus took upon Himself the role of a servant and modeled humility for His disciples - for us.

We live in a culture that is centered on the individual. A culture that doesn't always encourage thinking of others before ourselves. But Jesus encouraged a selfless approach to life. And He lived it. We can connect with Christ as we live lives of humbleness, humility, and service.

Matthew 23:11-12 says, “The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

Meet you back here tomorrow,
