David’s Daily Devotion for March 13

March 13, 2023 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, March 13.

“Everything old is new again”. This year, for the first time in 35 years, CD sales were overtaken by LPs. Vinyl is back! That’s good news for me - I’ve got about a thousand records in my collection. Long playing albums were the dominant media for most of the 20th century, but were overtaken by compact discs in the late ‘80’s. And now they’re back on top. Everything old is new again.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 voices a similar sentiment - “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.” Every generation always thinks that their experience is new. But students of history know that there is truly “nothing new under the sun”. Worldwide pandemic? It’s happened before. Financial crises? Look it up. Humans behaving badly?  Oh yeah.

Here’s another old saying - “The more things change, the more they remain the same”.  And we take comfort this morning that we worship an unchanging, eternal God.  The 100th Psalm reminds us that “the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations”.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
