David’s Daily Devotion for March 20

March 20, 2023 - Good Morning! It’s March 20.

Happy first day of spring! Welcome to the Vernal Equinox. Equinox is Latin for "equal night". On this day in March and on the Autumnal Equinox in September, the period of light and darkness is approximately equal. This happens each year in the Northern Hemisphere. But, down south everything is opposite. In Argentina today they're saying goodbye to summer and hello to fall!  We live in a fascinating world.

As a trained scientist (!!!) - I could go on and share many more scientific things about this scientific phenomenon. (But, frankly, it would probably be over your head). So, suffice it to say . . . SPRING HAS SPRUNG! And praise God for it!  It's a little chilly today here in Shelby County, Texas, but the colors of the new season are all around us. And we welcome Spring with joy.

You can hear the joy in the king's words from Song of Solomon 2:11-12. "See! The winter is past, the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth, the season of singing has come, and the sound of the turtledove is heard in our land."

And you can hear the joy in Eleanor Farjeon's lovely lyrics -

Morning has broken like the first morning. Blackbird has spoken like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning, praise for them springing fresh from the Word! Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning, born of the One light Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning God's re-creation of the new day!

Happy First Day of Spring! God is good!

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
