David’s Daily Devotion for March 30

March 30, 2022 - Good Morning!  It's Wednesday, March 30.

I have such respect for teachers, particularly in these challenging times.  Those who faithfully share the lessons they've learned with others deserve our respect, our support, and our prayers.  God bless teachers!

Jesus was a master teacher, the greatest teacher who ever lived.  He used many tools in his teaching, including object lessons.  These included objects like coins (Matt. 22), salt (Matt. 5), lilies (Luke 12), fishing nets (Luke 5), bread (Matt. 15), fig trees (Matt. 24), water (John 4), and the hairs on our heads (Luke 12).

Imagine Jesus sitting with His disciples beside a vineyard and saying, "I am the vine, you are the branches" (John 15).  I'm guessing that when Jesus used sparrows in a lesson (Matt. 10) that there were birds flying over His head.  And perhaps the "Parable of the Sower" (Mark 4) was shared next to a field where a farmer was planting his crop.

Jesus used the objects that were at hand, things that were familiar to His disciples, His listeners, His students.  A master teacher!  Lessons that still teach!

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
