David’s Daily Devotion for March 8

March 8, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, March 8.

I started my morning with a Men's Prayer Breakfast. 33 guys met at a local restaurant for fellowship, Bible study, and prayer. We were celebrating the first anniversary of our Community Men's Prayer Ministry. God has blessed beyond our expectations this past year, as three groups have met faithfully each week, with 35-40 men attending. Our interim pastor shared a word this morning about the Great Revival that swept America and England in the mid 1800's. He reminded us that that miraculous outpouring of the power of God began with a group of six men who met in New York City . . . to pray.

This morning each man put his hand on the shoulder of the man seated to his right, and lifted that man up in prayer. They prayed that their brother would be bold and courageous, would be an instrument of God's love, would be a difference maker in this dark world. And each man was reminded of the power of prayer. We were reminded of that quote by the Christian writer, Oswald Chambers - "Prayer is not to equip us for the greater work, prayer IS the greater work."

"I desire, then, that in every place the men should pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or quarreling." - I Timothy 2:8

"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." - Romans 12:12

"Pray without ceasing." - I Thessalonians 5:17

Meet you back here tomorrow,
