David’s Daily Devotion for May 11

May 11, 2022 - Yesterday afternoon I was driving back to Center, Texas from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I sometimes think of Oklahoma looking just like West Texas. And some of it does. But yesterday afternoon I drove through beautiful rolling hills and vast green pastures. At one point I looked out, and on one of those beautiful hills were hundreds and hundreds of grazing cows. It was a picture. It was a picture worth a thousand words. It was a picture that reminded me of these words -

Every beast of the forest is mine, says the Lord, the cattle on a thousand hills. Psalm 50:10

Sometimes we pat ourselves on the back when we put a little money in the church offering plate. And we congratulate ourselves when we give to a ministry program or a mission project. When you think about it, though, it's really kind of ridiculous. It would be like if I borrowed my neighbor's lawn mower, used it, gave it back to him - and then congratulated myself on my generosity!  Everything we have belongs to God. Our houses, our land, our families, our careers, everything - the cattle on a thousand hills.

He asks only that we be good stewards of all His blessings. And that we be careful not to let all these "things" become more important than our relationship with Him. Our relationship with the One who is the "giver of all good gifts".

Meet you back here tomorrow,
