David’s Daily devotion for May 14

May 14, 2022 - It’s Saturday, May 14.

On May 14, 1984, a baby boy was born. His name was Mark Zuckerberg. At the tender age of 19, he created a website called The Facebook. Later the “the” was dropped.  And today over 3 billion people are regular users. I’m thinking that you’re probably one of them.

Speaking of billions, Zuckerberg became the world’s youngest billionaire at 23, and today he’s worth about 80 billion dollars. His Facebook created a whole new definition for the words “friend” and “like”. And it’s become a wonderful tool for churches to broadcast their services, to publicize their ministries, to share the gospel.

But Facebook has also brought us fake news and conspiracy theories and hate speech. It has threatened our privacy, drawn many into internet addiction, and sometimes isolated us from the real people around us. Have you ever been sitting and talking with a friend and noticed them looking at their phone, more connected with their Facebook "friends" than with you?

Technology is a double-edged sword. A life changing tool - for good and for bad. So, spend time on His Book. And find the wisdom and direction that we need to walk life's challenging road.

Meet you back here on Monday,

Bro. David
