September 29, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Friday, September 29.
This Sunday, at First Baptist Center, we'll be singing a worship song called "Hosanna". It forms a nice parallel with the song "Hallelujah", that we sang last Sunday. These two words are at the essence of our praise.
But hosanna, a Hebrew word, did not originally mean "Praise the Lord!". It meant "Lord, save us!".
That's how we find it in Old Testament verses like Psalm 118:25. But, by the time we find it in the story of Palm Sunday, featured in all four Gospels, Hosanna had become a shout of praise.
How appropriate that this word of worship is connected to God's greatest gift to us. We thank Him today for His salvation. We praise Him.
Hallelujah! Hosanna!
