David’s Daily Devotional for April 15

April 15, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, April 15.

Today is Good Friday. Have you ever wondered why the adjective "good" is applied to the day that Jesus died? It goes to the changing definitions of words over time. At one time, "good" was a synonym for "holy" - and we can certainly see the appropriateness of that adjective for this sacred day.

The Bible tells us that Jesus died at the ninth hour, 3:00pm. And in that moment a violent earthquake shook Jerusalem. In the temple, just a few hundred yards away, the curtain that hung in front of the Holy of Holies was ripped from top to bottom. This curtain was said to have been 60 feet high and 4 inches thick, and merely to move it required 300 priests. It separated us from the very presence of God. It symbolized our sin.

And Jesus, on that Good Friday, tore that curtain, from top to bottom, and removed that veil of separation. He opened the way for you and me to approach the throne of God and restore our relationship with the Father. The Curtain was the Law. The Cross is Grace. Hallelujah!

Hebrews 10:19-20. We have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened to us through the curtain, that is His body...

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
