David's Daily Devotion for April 19

April 19, 2023 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, April 19.

On this day, in 1964, John Lennon, just 24 years old, did an amazing thing. The Beatles were finishing their first movie, “A Hard Day’s Night,” but there was a problem, there was no title song. After a long day in the studio, the director asked John if he would write one. He came back - the next morning - with a song that would rise to number one in the world. Genius.

Albert Einstein, another genius, at the age of 26, produced, seemingly out of nowhere, the Theory of Relativity. And young Robert Louis Stevenson penned his classic novel, “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”, in just three days. That’s an average of 10,000 words a day! A miracle.

But, look closer. Did these amazing feats really come out of nowhere? Were they truly unexplainable miracles? Hardly. Lennon got his first guitar at age 15, and thought about little else but music after that. Stevenson devoted himself to a life of letters when he was still a boy. And Einstein said he thought about his theory everyday for ten years before he published it.

Great moments of epiphany come after long years of faithful work, focus, and study. And so it is with the study of God’s Word.

Joshua 1:8 - Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
