David's Daily Devotion for Aug. 19

August 19, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, August 19.

At First Baptist Center, we love the praise music of a 38-year-old worship leader from California, Phil Wickham. His songs, like, “Great Things”, “House of the Lord”, and “This is Amazing Grace”, are singable, biblical, and inspiring.

Phil comes from a family of worship leaders and began touring and recording at the age of 19. In 2014 he had a health scare that included throat surgery and a month of complete silence. During this experience he wrote "Living Hope", a song that gives all of us hope, and that won Song of the Year.

This year, Wickham released a new song called "Hymn of Heaven". We'll feature it in our worship hour this Sunday. It was written during the worst days of the pandemic. Phil describes it like this - "It's all about bringing heaven to the present, making Jesus the King in this moment."

We don't know exactly what heaven will be like. The Apostle John, and others, struggle to describe it with our limited language. But we know that we shall "see Him face to face", that being in His presence will be the essence of Paradise. Wickham is encouraging us to seek His presence now, and, in that way, to experience a little taste of heaven here on earth.

Google "Hymn of Heaven" today. You'll be blessed!

Meet you back here on Monday,
Bro. David
