David's Daily Devotion for Aug. 9

August 9, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, August 9.

Have you ever prayed over a thing or a place? This morning, my pastor and I have been invited by our high school principal to join him on campus to pray over the classrooms, the gym, the band hall, the cafeteria. On Wednesday evenings, our choir members, following rehearsal, often move out into our sanctuary to place their hands on the pews and pray. In the past I’ve been invited to housewarmings where all the guests were invited to pray over each room.

In church life we often see people “laying on hands” as they pray for a newly ordained minister, or to heal a sick person, or dedicate a newborn baby. But should we lay hands on places and things? Well, when you think about it, our choir isn’t praying for those pews - they’re praying for the people who’ll be sitting in those pews. And the guests aren’t praying for that house, but for the family who will make it a home.

And when we pray today over those school classrooms, we’ll really be lifting up the young people who, tomorrow, will fill those classrooms. And that... is a powerful thing!

2 Corinthians 10:4 - The weapons of our spiritual warfare are not of this world, but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
