David's Daily Devotion for August 2

August 2, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, August 2.

This Sunday is Promotion Day for our Sunday School children and youth. The day - like in regular school - where students move up a grade. We don’t make our adults do that. And that's why we have couple's classes that started out as “young” years ago, and now are full of grandparents!

The Sunday School teachers in our youth and children’s departments are preparing lots of special features for this special day, including special gifts of scripture bracelets. These plastic bands became popular in the early 1990's, printed with a four-letter inscription - WWJD (What Would Jesus Do?)

This phrase actually goes back to the early 1900's when a pastor in Topeka, Kansas began a Sunday night sermon series. Each sermon featured a different person who patterned their life after Christ. Charles Monroe Sheldon was soon preaching to a packed crowd. The messages were turned into a book, a book that has since sold over 50 million copies, making it one of the best selling books of all times. Sheldon titled it "In His Steps." And the subtitle was... "What Would Jesus Do?"

I Peter 2:21 - For to this you have been called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
