David's Daily Devotion for December 1

December 1, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, December 1.

The upcoming community holiday event at First Baptist Center, called “Journey to Bethlehem”, will feature a number of points of light. The guest groups will follow a path lit by hundreds of small flickering candles. The stable will be illuminated by old-fashioned oil lamps.  And the Angel will be holding a single candle.

The Bible, again and again, uses “light” as a metaphor, a symbol of truth, purity, wisdom, love, and joy. James tells us that God is the “Father of Lights” and that “every good and perfect gift comes down” from Him. In Ephesians 5:8, the Apostle Paul urges us to “walk as children of light”. The prophet Isaiah reminds us that “the people that walked in darkness have seen a great light” and Jesus called us “the light of the world”.

Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Meet you back here tomorrow,
