David's Daily Devotion for February 27

February 27, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, February 27.

On February 27, 1968, America heard a voice, a powerful voice, a voice that we could trust. Walter Cronkite, on his nightly news broadcast, said these words about the Vietnam War.

"It is increasingly clear to this reporter that the only rational way out of this war is to negotiate, not as victors, but as an honorable people who lived up to their pledge to defend democracy, and did the best they could."

On hearing these words from that voice, President Lyndon Johnson famously replied, "If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost America." And just a month later, Johnson had a nationwide broadcast of his own, and announced, "I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president".

When Walter Cronkite spoke, people listened. His was a powerful voice, a voice we could trust. I'm not sure that America has a voice like that today.

But there is someone.

Psalm 29 - The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic, the voice of the Lord breaks the cedars... and strips the forest bare. And in His temple, all cry "Holy!"

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
