David's Daily Devotion for February 8

February 8, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, February 8.

Do you have a day each week that's your "long" day? A day when you go from early till late? Maybe that describes most of your days! Wednesday is my long day. Like most Baptist churches, Wednesday nights are a busy time with lots of different activities. I don't get home till after 8pm on Wednesdays. And at 6am each Wednesday, I attend a men's prayer breakfast at an area restaurant. A long day.

But the prayer breakfast is always a great way to start my long day. We'll have 18-22 men on average, all ages. Sometimes guys will bring their sons, or their grandsons, or their great grandsons! You'll end up sitting by a different gentlemen each Wednesday. Often it's a guy that you know - but don't really know. But, by the time the breakfast is finished, you feel like you've made a new friend. A blessing.

Besides the table talk, we share prayer needs with one another. Today, one man spoke of an anonymous friend who is going through a time of depression. Most of us have been there at one time or another. We lifted that man up to the Lord, asking God to give him a fresh sense of hope and comfort today. I feel certain that there are men in our group that faithfully lift me up to the Lord, as well. A blessing.

I Thessalonians 5:11 - "Encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
