David's Daily Devotion for January 19

January 19, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, January 19.

It's amazing how quickly our priorities can change.

26 days ago, on Christmas Eve, my family was eyeing all those presents under the Christmas tree, counting down the hours until the great unwrapping ceremony. And then everything changed. My wife suffered a stroke and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where she stayed for five days. Then, for three weeks, she was in a rehab facility. Yesterday, finally, she came home.

She came home to a house still decorated for the holidays. She came home to a bright, glowing Christmas tree. And under that tree there are presents, for her and for me. Tomorrow morning, along with our two daughters, we'll finally have that great unwrapping ceremony. And it will be nice. But it won't be the same.

In the last 26 days my wife has been given a different kind of gift. A gift of health and home. A gift of family and a future. Whatever awaits us under that Christmas tree will pale in comparison. It's amazing how quickly our priorities can change.

James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change.

Meet you back here on Monday,
Bro. David
