David's Daily Devotion for July 13

July 13, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, July 13.

Last Sunday, in our worship service, we sang the Kari Jobe song "The Blessing". Do you know it? It would be worth your time to google it today. A unique song, whose words are taken directly from Numbers 6:24. Words that were given by the Lord to Moses, for the priests to pray over the nation of Israel. These words -

"The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace."

This song, these words, seemed to strike a chord with our congregation in that moment, seemed to resonate in their hearts. There are many such passages in the Bible - some like this one in the Old Testament - and some, by the Apostle Paul, in the New Testament. Romans 15:13 is an example - "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." If someone prayed that blessing over me, it would make my day, make my week!

Blessings are not just for Moses and Paul. We can pray prayers of blessing over our family, over our church family, over our neighbors, our co-workers, our community, our country. The Apostle John prayed a blessing over us in the final sentence of the Bible - "May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people."

And so... BLESSINGS!

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
