David's Daily Devotion for July 20

July 20, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, July 20.

We continue this morning with a brief series on the subject of heaven. Tomorrow, a thought about "heaven on earth". Today, we give the Word of God the opportunity to teach us about the world to come. Heaven is mentioned in 54 of the Bible's 66 books. Christian author, David Jeremiah, puts it like this, "To visualize heaven accurately, study the Bible!"

What heaven will look like -

Revelation 21. The walls were made of jasper, and the city was pure gold, as clear as glass. I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of
God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.

What we'll do there -

Revelation 5. Then I heard every creature in heaven saying, "To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power forever and ever".

What Jesus said about heaven -

John 14. "My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me, that you also may be where I am".

How to prepare for heaven -

Colossians 3. Since you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

And finally -

Philippians 3:20. Our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
