July 6, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, July 6.
On July 6, 1785, Congress unanimously voted that the official legal tender of the United States would be... the dollar. And Americans have been chasing after the dollar ever since! Don’t forget what the Bible says - “Money is the root of all evil”.
But wait! That’s one of those verses that everyone misquotes. What First Timothy 6:10 actually says is, “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil.” And so, in that context, money is no different than anything - power, position, pleasure - that we’re tempted to put ahead of God in our lives. Anything that we give a higher priority to than Him can lead us down the road to evil.
That said, the Bible does give special warnings about wealth. Jesus famously (and humorously) said - “It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
So, if God has blessed you financially - give Him the glory, give back to Him to build His kingdom, and guard your priorities.
