David's Daily Devotion for June 13

June 13, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, June 13.

Last week, here in the paradise that we call “Deep East Texas,” we reached triple digits for the first time this year. And next week it’s predicted to be above 100 every day, with heat indexes of 110+. Yikes! I think we may be in for a long hot summer.

Can anything good possibly come from a heat wave? Well, maybe one thing. We'll all be going through it together, and that shared experience will connect us. It happens with every natural disaster, but it happens with good things, too. I'm from Houston, and when the Houston Astros won the World Series, I was high-fiving complete strangers.

In a bizarre way, it happened with the pandemic, as well. That worldwide catastrophic event, while isolating us, also connected us. We were all in it together. And there is strength in that connection. The Bible describes it like this in Ecclesiastes 4:9.

"Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls; for he has no one to help him up."

Meet you back here tomorrow,
Bro. David
